A Type Rating is a certification required to operate a specific model of helicopter. Even if you hold a PPL(H), LAPL(H), or CPL(H), you must complete a Type Rating course to legally fly a helicopter type that is not covered by your original licence training.

The Type Rating courses at Heli-Jet typically consist of 5 hours of flight training and 10 hours of ground school. The duration may vary slightly based on the individual’s learning pace and prior experience.

Heli-Jet offers Type Rating courses for the Robinson R22, Robinson R44, and Bell 206 JetRanger helicopters. These courses ensure you are fully trained to fly each model safely and confidently.

Our Type Rating packages include all necessary flight and ground school instruction, along with comprehensive notes, checklists, and manuals. These resources help you feel confident and well-prepared to operate your new type of helicopter.

The Type Rating for the Robinson R22 is priced at £345 + VAT per hour for dual training, while the Robinson R44 is £475 + VAT per hour. For those interested in the Bell 206 JetRanger, the cost is £695 + VAT per hour for dual training.
